The Kinks' '60s recordings have been extremely influential for generations of bands, beginning with the Punk and Mod movements of the late '70s onwards. Features 25 hits including 'Lola', 'David Watts', 'You Really Got Me', 'Tired of Waiting for You' and 'All Day And All of the Night'. Sanctuary/5().

"Days" was originally only intended to be a track on the concept album The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society, but after the commercial failure of the previous release "Wonderboy" it was rushed out as a song peaked at #12 in the UK but failed to chart in the US. Fearing that the band's time was up following the failure of "Wonderboy," Ray Davies wrote this.

Kinks (): Twenty-four songs, including the hits "You Really Got Me" and "All Day and All of the Night." In fact, you get all but two songs from the Castle reissue of this album (an alternate take of "Too Much Monkey Business" and the previously unreleased "I Don't Need You Any More")/5(8).

It reached #2 on the UK Singles Chart and #7 on the United States Charts. Like their previous hit "You Really Got Me", the song relies on a simple sliding power chord riff, although this song's riff is slightly more complicated, incorporating a B Flat after the chords F and G. Otherwise, the recordings are similar in beat and structure, with similar background vocals, progressions, and guitar.

Kirsty MacColl covered "Days" on her second studio album Kite (). It was released as the album's second single and reached No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart, the same position achieved by The Kinks in In Ireland MacColl's version charted seven places higher than the original, at No. 9.

The Kinks were active for over three decades between and , releasing 24 studio and 4 live albums. The first 2 albums are differently released in UK and US partly due to the difference in popularity of the extended play format (the UK market liked it, the US market didn't, so US albums had the EP releases bundled onto them), and partly due to the US albums including the hit singles.
